Fingal County Council - EV Smart Columns

Dublin : Electric Vehicle Charging Solutions

Overview

arrow

Fingal County Council (FCC) became the first local authority in Ireland to install Smart Columns as part of their EV refurbishment project.

These were installed along Chapel Lane, the main street in Swords. The installation dramatically reduced the visible furniture along the road and footpath. Smart Columns offer both local authorities and end users a host of benefits. They are fully functional as street lights and can also be used as a charger for electric vehicles (EVs) parked on the street via built-in technology.

The objective of the works being undertaken by FCC is to prepare for the anticipated increase in the number of EVs predicted to be on the roads of Ireland in the coming years as part of Project Ireland 2040. The project has a number of key environmental sustainability targets, and infrastructure such as Smart Columns will help local authorities to build a sustainable Ireland.

“Fingal County Council have worked on a number of projects with Enerveo Ireland over the years, and have a long-standing partnership with the team. They have completed some challenging projects for us, including replacement of columns and cables as well as the installation of EV chargers along a busy main street, without any issues.

They engaged admirably with the wider project team. The team are proactive in helping us achieve our environmental and sustainability goals and reduce our energy usage, and have been replacing approximately 7,000 LEDs for us per year. The team’s work ethic, capability to deliver and professional approach is exceptional.”
