The Mayflower Smart Control Central Management System (CMS) allows full dynamic control and monitoring of each individual lighting unit using low power radio and GPRS/2G/3G/4G communication. Discrete infrastructure installed on lighting units receives and transmits data to the office enabling full and effective asset management.

Mayflower CMS

The Mayflower CMS has received Elexon approval and can now be used as an equivalent meter for measuring energy usage.

Mayflower is one of the UK’s leading Central Management Systems, with the largest installation in the UK and one of the largest CMS deployments globally.

The platform is currently deployed across approximately 390,000 lighting units for 18 local authorities in the UK and Ireland, including major county-wide schemes such as Hampshire County Council and Southampton City Council. The Hampshire PFI alone operates more than 157,000 lighting units on the Mayflower CMS.

Mayflower Solutions

The Mayflower Smart Control Central Management System (CMS) allows individual street lights to be monitored, switched and light output to be dynamically controlled.

This consists of three key products: the Node, the Sub Master and the Back Office System. These three products, together with a Socket which allows a Node or Sub Master to be fitted to a Lantern, communicate and provide a comprehensive system of control and monitoring.

Socket S6000

As a patented socket GB2480234, the S6000 Socket (NEMA) allows either a Node or Sub Master to be fitted to a lantern. The S6000 Socket also allows for an interim photo-electric cell to be fitted if installation of the Node/Sub Master will take place after lantern installation.

The S6000 Socket features a security design that will deter vandals and it is easy to install. It can even be pre-installed by certain lantern manufacturers.

External Node

An external Mayflower Node is installed on a Power Supply lantern to control the on/off function and the light level of the lamp. It is installed utilising the Mayflower S6000 Socket or ANSI 5/7 pin socket. The Node receives lamp control commands from the Mayflower Sub Master. The Node monitors and records measurement data and can alert the user to potential fault issues, such as a change in lamp status.

Internal Node

An internal Mayflower Node is installed within a lantern to control the on/off function and the light level of the lamp. It has been designed to t within the lantern body for situations where it is not practical or aesthetically pleasing to t an external Mayflower Node (e.g. bollards, signs, heritage lanterns).

In conjunction with the Mayflower Antenna, the Mayflower Node receives lamp control commands from the Mayflower Sub Master. The Mayflower Node is able to monitor, record and transmit measurement data, as well as alerting the user to potential fault issues.

Sub Master

Control commands issued by the Mayflower Central Management System (CMS) are propagated from the Sub Master, which acts as the wireless gateway between the Back Office System and the Nodes. The Sub Master communicates with the Back Office System via secure GPRS/2G/3G/4G links. Up to 500 Mayflower Nodes can be connected to a single Sub Master using a wireless mesh open protocol called Zigbee.

ANSI C136.41

In addition to Nodes and Sub Masters that fit the Mayflower S6000 NEMA socket, we also offer Mayflower products that comply with ANSI C136.41 and can fit either a 5 or 7 pin compliant socket.

Mayflower Nodes and Sub Masters are available for 1-10V or Digital Addressable Lighting Interface (DALI) for dimming.

Back Office System

The Back Office System is the brain of the Mayflower Complete Lighting Control CMS. It issues commands to the Sub Masters, which in turn issue commands to the Nodes. It also receives the information from the Nodes, through the Sub Masters, allowing data to be recorded and analysed.
