Project Highlights
Delivering a complex project over water in the agreed timescale and within budget.
The project involved the rehabilitation of the heritage standards on St. Patrick’s bridge in Cork City. The standards were comprised of cast iron columns with lanterns. There were four in place on the bridge and an additional four in storage.
Enerveo were required to carefully remove the existing four columns on the bridge and send these, plus the additional four in storage to be repaired/restored in accordance with the specifications as supplied and set by Cork City Council.
In addition, six duplicate columns were to be made which were to be exact copies of the originals. We used
our established supply chain to procure and manufacture the replicas. On completion of the restoration of the eight existing columns, and creation of the six replica columns, the 14 standards were installed on site fully assembled complete with new lanterns and lighting heads.
Enerveo also installed new cables in the lanterns as the existing cables on the bridge were damaged or faulty which entailed the coordination of:
• Traffic Management
• Specialist Hoist to access cable entry points over the side of the bridge
• Crane & Lift work
• Water awareness/life jacket provision
• Boat to be on-hand while works carried out (which was supplied courtesy of Cork Harbour) as a safety measure
• Rope across the river with boating lights
• Monitoring stations at either end of the bridge
