Scope of works

The project was divided into six main sections:

 

1. On site 33kV electrical infrastructure design, procurement, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning

  • Installation of cables between the switch room, turbines and met mast/LIDAR
  • Termination and testing of all cables between the switch room and turbines

 

2. 132kV Grid Connection construction contract (via Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks)

 

3. Civil and building infrastructure design and construction work, which includes but is not limited to;

  • Construction of foundations for 66 No. WTGs
  • Construction of Foundations for 1 No. Met Mast and 1 No. LIDAR
  • Construction of new access and upgrading of existing tracks and hardstanding areas, with associated drainage works, required to accommodate delivery of all plant and material for the erection and maintenance of the WTGs over the life of the facility One operations building and associated compound for communications and welfare for the life of the facility

 

4. A substation building and associated platform and foundations

 

5. WTG design, manufacture, delivery, erection, testing and commissioning

 

6. Telecommunications work

Environmental interaction and adding value to the natural environment including interaction and protection of protected species including Water Voles and Otters, Peat Management.

Adding value to communities through investment in local suppliers and infrastructure.

The Stronlairg community investment fund will deliver over £25m to community projects over its operational lifespan.

Stronelairg wind farm is a 66 turbine wind farm on the Garrogie estate, South East of Fort Augustus. Stronelairg has an installed capacity of up to 228MW, sits at an elevation of around 600 meters.
